What is a guitar hero ? It’s a musician able to project a world on his instrument. Magic happens when this world is resonating with the reality and the imagination of a time.
Adrien Moignard is definitively one of these young heroes (he is just 25 years old) of this today guitar, coming straight ahead from Django Reinhardt. But the imagination
which improves his art, if it is really similar to Django, is also coming from other sources.
From the rock/blues universe of his start to his collaboration to the Selmer 607 project, which has revealed him as a solist (together, among others, with his friend Rocky Gresset), through an album with Zaïti, whose non exclusive complicity is revealed here (Cédric Ricard – saxophone, Mathieu Chatelain – rhythmic guitar, Jérémie Arranger - Double-Bass), Adrien appears as an exceptional guitarist full of talent and fundamentally open.
Not only his unmistakable touch is evident when listening to his cover of la Valse d’Augustine (Cosma) but also his incredible maturity when performing with the great Stochelo Rosenber, master of sound and elegance. Beyond this forum for influences : Sinatra (All the Way), George Benson (Clockwise), Bill Evans (Witchcraft, Blue in Green), Horace Silver – through Eddy Louiss and René Thomas (No Smoking), the Brecker Brothers (Some Skunk funk), Louis Winsberg (Peniscola) or Special EFX (Fountain of You) plus the allusions to Django (Shine, Viper’s Dream, How High the Moon). Adrien imposes his style definitively.
This first album is already the result of a master. The young virtuoso sets up the scenery and gives us the tone. Surrounded with amazing musicians such as Benoît Convert (Guitar), Jérôme Regard (Contrabass) and Xavier Sanchez (Percussion, Cajon), Adrien Moignard is without any doubt, one of the future big names of the guitar like Jon Larsen, the norvegian, or John Jorgenson, the american, think he is already.
